FAQ

Is it spelled “Pinky” or “Pinkie”?
Both apparently. It depends on which source you refer too, but typically “pinky” is prefered in the US and “pinkie” in the UK. Click here and see for yourself.

Is there a certain type of ring you’re supposed to wear on your pinky?
Absolutely not. Any ring that fits comfortably on your pinky finger is appropriate as long as you like it.

Are these rings only for men or women?
Both men and women look good wearing pinky rings. And many rings labeled Men’s or Women’s rings are often suitable for the opposite gender. This is especially convenient for men since many times only a woman’s size ring will fit on their pinky finger.

Who wears pinky rings?
The popular media would have you believe that the only men wearing pinky rings are gamblers, gangsters, pimps, rappers, European royalty and other high-rollers. Well don’t let that discourage you. Today you’re just as likely to see anyone from janitors to CEO’s wearing them. Women are lucky to be more liberated when it comes to jewelry, and can really get away with decorating any appendage.

Do They Have a Special Significance?
Typically, a pinky ring has little significance other than that the wearer has an above-average sense of style. There are a few exceptions however. Members of the Order of the Engineer wear a plain steel band on their pinky finger to indicate membership in that engineering organization. In some cultures, especially with European nobles, Signet Rings are traditionally worn on the pinky finger.

Do They Have Special Sizes?
Unfortunately few jewelers make rings with the pinky finger in mind.  An average man’s pinky finger is around a size 8.  That’s also the smallest size commonly available in men’s style rings.  That’s fine for all those men that are bigger than average, but it makes it harder for men that require a size 7 or smaller.   We’ll do our best feature men’s rings that area available in smaller styles, so stay tuned.  Fortunately there are many women’s rings that are actually unisex in style and perfectly acceptable for a man.  Women also benefit from a wide range of ring sizes from jewelers and have less trouble finding pinky rings.
